Outbound began in 2012 when the Edralins and a group of friends decided to start a church that really got into the community to serve and bless. They focused on being “outward-bound” creating partnerships with community groups like schools, youth drop-ins, half-way houses, addictions, community and friendship centres, and even created their own boxing program.
In 2013 they visited Wiikwemkoong First Nation on Manitoulin Island to conduct kickboxing classes and help with a children’s day camp. Outbound continued doing these things every summer, and then in 2018, the Edralins moved the island to serve year-round.
Now on Manitoulin, being outbound looks like 3 youth groups, a youth drop-in, kickboxing classes and sports coaching, a young mother’s depot, Bible sharing circles, community meals, and partnerships with 3 churches. It means coming alongside those in need.
